Give Me Your Jew Gold!

Okay, so. I finnaly got to work on my Java homework earlier. I could only get half, of what I needed to do, done. We've covered loops and switches so far. I don't know if I am going to learn anything out of this class or not. Given, I've learned basic functions, that aren't in the other programming languages I've used before. So, having realized that, I've decied that, when I get some free time, I want to focus on some more advanced topics in the language. I will probably be doing my next website project in JSP. I can't bring myself to go back to PHP. The only languages I've used for the entire year are compiled. (I don't see anything that great coming out of using C++ and CGIcc) I might try working on soem other things using mono, but I think I am mainly going to keep working with Java. I don't want to have taken this class and not gotten anytrhing out of it. That is a sad waste of $300. The only thing that's good about it now is that it's my last programming pre-req. I never get along that well with my programming teachers, with the exception of Karen. I'm going to be adding a new project blog soon, for my next project. If anyone even reads this thing, please take the time to stop in and give feedback. Especialy gamers.

Okay, back up.

I've managed to get ALFRED back up and running. I had to consolidate all of my music/entertainment to one drive, so I would have and extra, working hardrive for it. I want to eventualy add another 60gb ide drive, once I can afford a couple of Seagate 250gb SATA drives to RAID togethor. My main focus for alfred right now is to get mod_jk2 and mod_mono working before the end of the week. mod_jk2 won't be hard, but I still have no success with mod_mono.

ALFRED is back!!! Well, actualy, now he's dead again.

Incase you're wondering just who the hell ALFRED is. ALFRED is my network name for my on again/off again dedicated web/sql/ssh server. I use a local server for a lot of playing arround with stuff I don't know what is. It's main role is webserver, because I can't afford a decent host. ALFRED's previous forms have included a Dell Optiplex GX1 (500MHz Celeron, 128MB RAM, 15GB HDD, running Red Hat Linux 8) and a Home Built Model 2 (1.6GHz Athlon XP 2200+, 256MB RAM, 40GB HDD, Debian Sid). ALFRED's more recent form has become a Dell Optiplex GX150 (1GHz Celeron, 384mb RAM, 40GB HDD, running Debian Sid). I acquired this computer from work today. It was labled to be sent to the trash and I decided to take it home and see what was wrong. It turns out ALFRED had a bad harddrive. Everything else works great. I know this, because it booted for me and I managed to get Debian Sid installed before it started clicking like a... I can't think of anything that clicks... WTF!? Anyways, it started clicking and I had no bootable drive. I can run a live cd, but what the hell would that do me. I've only got two harddrives left. Both of them are maybes. I'm gonna try to get Debian back on here. Cross your fingers for me.

Stranded... Digitaly

I am digitaly stranded. I forgot to turn my computer on before I left for work today. This means, I have no SSH. Having no SSH means, getting no work done. FUCK!!! I am stranded at the PC Repair shop from hell. I was yelled at by a customer because another one of our techs placed backups on a system from a cd and left them read only. Six dollars an hour is extremely shitty for the work that I don't do here. I should be making at least $8.

What's new pussycat... er Tomcat5

FUCKING PEICE OF SHIT...! I LOVE YOU! So, I finally got Tomcat (JSP/Servlet Container) installed. It took me two hours and a quarter pack of ciggerettes. (The ones that have 20) After installing Tomcat4 the first time, to no avail, everything was set up diffrently than the guide I was reading. So, I found another guide. The new guide was for Apache2/Tomcat5/mod_jk2. I didn't have apache2 installed... So I had to take out apache 1.3.3, _and_ mod_jk; then install their newer versions. That was at about 11:30 pm and I was getting restless. Why wasn't Tomcat4's port not showing up through nestat as a listening port!? The fuck if I know. After installing the new Apacke2/Tomcat5/mod_jk2 packages, I have a successful, running version of Tomcat5 installed. I can't get mod_jk to successfuly tie togethor Apache2/Tomcat5. But you can access Tomcat5 @ http://squatta101.athx.cx:8180/helloworld.jsp
